I am new to the FD Journey. I have a 89 FC which has become a big power project, 13b. Getting into the FD hard though. Falling in love big time. I love anything I can put oil into the gas tank
I am somewhere at about 48,xxx miles my odometer recently went out which I am working on trying to figure out now. I am no pro when it comes to soldering, electronics or circuit boards so I am looking into the forums and deciding which direction to go (possibly send off to circuit board medics)
Anyways, excited to join the FD family --- Daily! 1993, Stock twin turbo 13b, bought with some bolt ons. Just did full fluid flush (except brake fluid), coil overs, rims (18x9.5 +38 offset) and tires (Bridgestone RE-71R 275/35/18)... yes they fit, and no they do not rub! some very minor fender lining modification was necessary. Will probably run a 10mm spacer in the back
Congratulations on the car. Appears to be a 93 Touring with a 'R' front lip and possibly a rear spoiler delete.
Replacing the fluids is a great way to familiarize yourself with the FD and also gets you a baseline for maintenance so kudos for that. Be sure to download a copy of the Factory Service Manual if you don't have one already. And spend some evenings going thru all the FAQ stickys at the top of the 3rd Gen. Tech section...lots of info there. Proceed with caution, you want to do 'due diligence' on modifications for this one.
This is the New Member Tech section so regarding your odometer issue, you might do some searching in that section on the subject. You'll likely also find some threads with info on how to pull the dash cluster if you send it in.
Again, congratulations. Nice looking car.
Nice and meaty! I like the tire/wheel setup. Curious as to what you did to the fenders to prevent rubbing on those tall tires...
My .02.... Hawk pads are going to give you grief on a daily. They throw so much dust it's unreal. Really hard to wash off too. I've been happy with the Stoptech sports from rock auto. We endurance race with them as well.

Getting real here. I run HP+ and the dust is crazy, the rears tend to be noisy when cold as well but the pads have great bite. I gave up on trying to keep my car and wheels clean.

Sgt,
Thanks brother and roger that on service manual. I have been digging into the cluster forums - def some good stuff in there and many have fixes I am going to try.

So on the backside of the fender lining what we did was actually reverse the lining, so instead of the fender lining being bolted to the outside of the fender wheel well, we reversed it to the inside, and on the front just zip ties it out a little. Very minor stuff but created that maybe 1/4 inch of wiggle room all around and kept all functionality on fender lining.
I had seen someeee people on forums say they ran 285/35 on 18x9.5 +38... now that idk how. Maybe different tire. The RE-71Rs are a really beefy tire and kind of run big it seems.
Ahhh - I did get the hawk ceramics... but I do have white wheels xP lol - we’ll see! Maybe I should return them and try the stop tech sports.
I only have the stock pads to compare to, but been running EBC Reds. Better bite than stock with only slight more dust. They did well on a recent autocross and short track event.
Yeah, I meant the HP+ were dusty. Hopefully the ceramics are better. Let us know. The stoptech sports have a bit less bite, but also less dust and it's easier to clean off.
I appreciate the tip on the fender liner. I already spaced mine up and rolled the fender lip. Still rubbing a tiny bit on the top of the driver side liner with 25" tall 255's up front. Might just have to raise ride height a few MM.

Roger that man will do!
No problem, just pull the liner out (from the outside of the tabs) and use the tabs and bend them back a bit in to secure it on the inside instead. Sometimes a few cm is all you need. Given on driveways etc, I am sure to keep the wheels straight.
