Apex Seal Blown Motor

I have a different motor to put into my FD but was wondering is the motor itself worth anything? I guess the only way to find out is the pull the motor and take it apart to see if there is damage to determine value in selling parts or is this not worth doing? I am in the process of removing the motor but just wanted to know if being careful removing certain parts to sell? Thanks.

I just pulled my motor after blowing it. Most of the apex seal was gone and it didn’t touch anything on the way out. Chances of that happening are slim but it’s already dead so you might as well tear it apart.

This weekend is going to be in the 60's so I guess it's time to pull the motor and see. Hopefully I'll be lucky as well.

Unless it was neglected or run low on oil the Eshaft is generally still good. And MAZDA offers different bearing sizes based on wear.
If it was indeed a hard seal failure it’s difficult to predict the value of housings, rotors and irons (side plates). The Factory Service Manual will give you acceptable specs.
Things like injectors, the OMP, filter pedestal, front cover, water pump, pulleys, oil pump, upper and lower manifolds and throttle body , flywheel and some sensors all have value.

It's only going to cost you time to take it apart. As the others said, the good/reusable parts do have value and you won't know what you have until you open it up & start cleaning the parts up.

The manifold and housing hardware, the stainless cap-nuts and studs, are also often sought after.

Couples hours and my back was killing me. Got some stuff out on Saturday. Thank for the replies, I'll see what the engine looks like when it's pulled out (probably another two weekends).
