Anyone have a problem after replacing shifter spring?
Hey guys. I have a 1987 Turbo II transmission that is currently out of the car. While waiting on the engine to come back I decided to replace the shifter spring. I knocked out the roll pin and took out the control block. I installed the new spring and put a new roll pin in. The trans shifts smooth and does not bind. But it does not spring back from the 1/2 shift gate still. I have replaced the shiter bushings and have the new wave springs in place. However, even without them in, the shifter does not spring back from the 1/2 gate. Here are some pics of how its in there. with no bushings in and the shifter loose there is zero pressure from the 1/2 gate. with the bushings in and everything tightened down there is no slop but still no sprin back. I searched and found a thread where someone was having the same problem after replacing the shifter spring, but they didnt say if they ever fixed it or not. I sent him a PM and never heard back. Any advice would be great.
I used OEM mazda bushings, roll pin, and shifter spring, and the shifter is an S5 shifter.
