I think it's a great idea!
I had a 2nd gen mx6 (the Probe's sister car) for a while, and I've been driving mx3's for 14 years. They are great handling little cars. My mom had a 1st gen Probe which I drove for a while as well...
The bane for them is the heavier front end, I don't recall the balance of them, but quite front heavy.
Dropping in a 13B will lighten the front, allowing for better weight distribution and should improve handling.

Awesome you put the 2.3 s/c into a Protege! I've wanted to do that to my mx3 gs since I first read about the engine. So many said it couldn't be done...

I think I recall that Festiva from a thread on another board... When did you build it?

Plus there's no way he's making the claimed 800HP with that turbo, that manifold and that intercooler. What an abortion. The combination of the stock S4 exhaust manifold with all that ridiculous plumbing boggles the mind considering that the fabricator has some talent.

Okay, so after your done with this contraption Dr. Frankenstein, what then? The only thing I see this being useful is to be a rotary powered daily beater.

if you want to autocross something that get one of the most popular autocrosser, Miata or 89 Civic.

89 Civic already comes with FWD so maybe you can slap 13B in there, that might be fun, light weight civic powered by Wankel,

As far as taking RWD car and converting it to FWD is just an abomination, I get it when you convert FWD to RWD but other way I see no point.

People who prep cars for Race Tracks, Circuit racing, drifting or any other events, they never convert RWD to FWD, it is usually down just the opposite, also it is fun to convert FWD to AWD and AWD to RWD.

This is just my 2 cents, no need to be upset at me.

^^the engine will go into a factory FWD Mazda, not sure which model yet though, this project is just for fun, to gain technical experience, to see if I can do it etc.

I'm not trying to build a world record breaking race car, just something that will be fun and unique to drive as a daily driver

I bought a whole drivetrain for $200, I have spare fwd trannies kicking around, so this will not cost me much and something like this intrigues me enough where i don't mind the small investment

Good on ya for getting stuck in, Im real keen to see the outcome. As I mentioned earlier, and is clear to see, there's never a shortage of people to bash your ideas. I appreciate everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I can't see the point of voicing an opinion for the sake of it especially if it adds no value to the post/forum. Don't listen to the negative haters with nothing better to add than 'why' or 'ridiculous' or 'waste of money' etc. At the end of the day your doing it for YOUR enjoyment in YOUR time with YOUR money. Out of the ordinary projects like these are great for building skills, problem solving and using your brain since its not a matter of simply copying what hundreds of others have already done. Good on ya, will be following your progress closely!

mrstoks - thanks man, there's no changing my mind on this project.... yesterday i dropped off the 13B and KL trans to get the adapter plate made up, it may take him a few months since he has other projects to work on first, but it's in the right hands to get the job done

the idea of this thread was to see if anyone else has done it, and I found someone, so for all I care this thread can be locked, but I WILL do the conversion and waste my money on it
