TN Anyone care to share their experience?

After running all the old gas thru my new purchase,an 82 GLE completely stock 5-speed,the engines driveability is still bad,no cold idle, never runs the same way twice, will not pull hard except in 5th gear, etc.Unless someone changes my mind,I am going to remove air pump, cat, and all smog controls when I rebuild carb and change water pump.Anyone have any experiences to share that might help? Thanks in advance?BTW,I am going to save all original parts in case I return it to an AACA original someday.

Replace fuel filter, inspect ignition system (including verification of spark at the plugs), and rebuild the carb if that doesn't do it. Good luck.

Great place to learn about the carb is www.sterlingmetalworks.com

Kentetsu is right on. Also verify timing. The link he gave is to one of the best and most extensive references for nikki carbs. Sterlings own Nikkis are considered top notch too.
