Air filter replacement

I am looking at replacing the stock air filter system on my 85 RX7 GSL SE with the K&N kit. My only concern on this is that there seems to be some form of electronics inside of the box that houses the air filter as there is an electrical cable plugged into it. Does anyone have any insight as to how to do this properly?

If you are talking a cone filter, then you will need to attach the cone filter to the AFM that is bolted onto the bottom of the air box normally with an adapter for cone filters.

You wouldn't be able to run the car without a AFM.
