Had this problem with a kenwood head unit, and it ended up being a weak ground. Fixed that and there was a little reset button behind the face plate and it was fine

There was a kenwood deck in the car when i bought it, but wanted to get a better looking one and one with blutooth. Took out the old kenwood, put the new jvc in and it went straight into protection mode! So thats why im at a loss, nothing changed from me unplugging the kenwood to plugging in the jvc

Try bench testing the new JVC unit. Use a 12V power supply and a speaker.

I'd start by checking the wiring and try powering it on with the radio out of the slot.
