Arrow Advice on purchasing a used '87 RX-7

So there's an auction coming up this Sunday (7/15) and they will be having a 1987 RX-7 on the block. I was wondering if I can get some advice on what to look for while inspecting the car since there probably won't be a record on the maintenance history of the vehicle. I'm 17 and it'll be my first car, but if it sells for cheap, I don't plan on keeping it. I admire the car but I feel like an RX-7 is too much of a responsibility for a new driver like me. So yeah, any advice on specific things to check for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
