Add coolant, overheating problems

Hi everyone. I drove with my radiator fan OFF til my engine overheated and stalled, I was able to start the car after several attempts. The add coolant light came on then off and I was able to drive home. Now when I start my 94 rx7, the add coolant light comes on, then comes off, over and over again. When the add coolant light comes on, the temp goes very high and when the light turns off, the temp drops to normal. I have been just driving it around the block seems like i wont be able to go far. Should I flush the radiator? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

After researching, I will flush out any air pockets in the radiator. Any other advice?

sounds like you have a air pocket trapped in there somewhere. you can try taking off the radiator cap and letting it sit overnight, that might let the air pocket escape, if that dont work, take the radiator cap off, start the car, put the heat on high, leave it run with the heat on and the rad. cap off, when you have hot air coming out of the vents, that means that the thermostat has opened, check and top off the fluid, that should do the trick.

You can also squeeze out the bubbles from the radiator hoses. Fill up the radiator, leaving just a little bit of empty space. Then gently/rapidly 'burp' the upper and lower hoses. You'll see bubbles start to come out. Refill and repeat until you're confident there's no air left.

it sounds like also, you may have thrown out your temp sensor, that's what happened to my FD when i blew a radiator hose. A change of that would also do you some good
