ABS Sensors Removal
I have worked on a lot of old cars so my '87 RX is a "new model". Have only met ABS sensors one time and they proved impossible to remove from the spindle carrying them. The sensor is housed in a thin metal shell fit through the spindle carrier and exposed to prime rust conditions. Have searched numerous forum boards w/o answer. It's been soaking in PB Blaster (advanced WD40) for a week, no progress on removal. My research of boards says you just have to pound it out and replace the whole line; that's expensive and with the second gen. sub frames, lots of work. Question is: can I cut the electrical line and splice in a good waterproof plug-in connector w/o damaging any thing permanently? This would allow removal of the spindle unit which is necessary for replacement of a $2 log stud. on'ttry to work around the issue. I did.

Proceeding with theory, cut the wire to the sensor
Went to a parts store and looked at several ABS wheel sensors, All had a simple two wire line under the insulator. Could probably trace the wire on the 7 to it's plug but it appears to snake up through the rear sub frame and would require more time than is available. Cutting the wire a few inches from the sensor seems like an option.
Am kind of shocked I can't find more advice on this. Nothing against the forum, I've been looking for advice generally on Google. Virtually any car with ABS sensors in metal housings is going to suffer from rust seizure. To do a wheel bearing on a second generation 7, the spindle must come off and get to a press. Will search wheel bearing replacement next. I see no reason a cut and splice won't work but will leave a note when done.
