98 FD3S - Reversed Battery Terminals Car Won't Fire (ECU Power Issue)

Hi all,

So just a few weeks ago I made the rookie mistake of reversing the polarity of my battery leads I won't make any excuses it was just a genuine brain fart.

I'm not exactly sure on the extent of the damage but immediately after realizing, I checked the fuses and they were all OK, apart from the white 120A Main Fuse, so I replaced that, I then tried to start her up, it would crank but not fire.

I noticed that the lights on my ECU no longer come on when I turn the key (I have a Microtech MT12), so I traced the red wire to a 15A Fuse in my engine bay, which was also blown, I replaced that as well. I tried to once again start the car but the same thing, no lights on ECU, engine cranks but won't fire.

I get all lights on the dash, no warning or engine lights, just the standard, and all of the other electronics seem to work just fine.

I've referred to the wiring diagram of my ECU and can only see one fuse in the circuit (the 15A one I replaced). I don't have a multi-meter at the moment to test whether or not it's getting power but will have one in the next few days. The ECU doesn't give off a smell like a typical blown electrical component, so I'm hoping it's still OK. Are there any other fuses that would prevent the ECU from powering up? Or perhaps it has just blown?

Any thoughts appreciated, as I would like to diagnose it myself before calling in an Auto-Electrician, just to tell me that the ECU is blown.

Your gonna need to get a multimeter or a test light to confirm you have 12V going to the ECU, if you do, then there MAY be a fuse inside the ECU (sorry, don't know aftermarket ECUs) if there isn't a fuse inside the ECU, i'd say she's fried
