94 RX7 Cuts out at 5000 RPM

I am new to the rx7 world and just got a 94 rx7 with a motor that was locked up and had been sitting for at least fours years. Dropped in a jdm 13b tt and now it has problems cutting out at 5000 rpm's. It does have a new fuel pump and fuel filter. Just was wondering if anyone has any ideas where I should start to look. Thanks

Well Ben, welcome to the site.

It could be many things. First thing you want to do is get a boost gauge on the car and see how much boost you are running. The stock fuel system supports about 10-11 PSI. Too much beyond that and you risk running lean so be careful. At 5000, the secondary turbo is coming online and you are probably spiking enough for the ECU to invoke fuel cut. Not good.

Next step is to make friends with the 3rd gen FAQ thread and spend some time reading it. Turbo troubleshooting can be found under the T section. Read the links. I was just on there earlier to try and troubleshoot some boost issues.

Good luck.
