well im not much of a technician but i've experienced the same thing with my FD only at 4,000rpm. when you start it up, let the engine warm up so the temp needle is almost halfway ( thats where mine sits anyway cause i have a good cooling kit ) because the car knows not to boost an engine thats cold. and when its warm enough and want to boost, slowly give it gas up to the cut off point, then let off and rev it up again, and just slowly let the rpm needle pass that point, then bring it back down then it should be good to rip. well thats what i do anyway, but like i said im not a tech, just wanted to put in my 2 cents

What boost are you at when you get cut off?

(If you don't know, I recommend you install a boost gauge even temporarily)
