HI 93 TT FD Help.... turn key, get nothing (try again, car starts but with a lag )

I have a mostly stock 93 Rx7 w/ 40k original miles. She runs great with no major issues. But have have noticed that sometimes when I turn the key I get nothing. No crank, no starter, no power at all. If I take the key out & try again she starts, but there is a lag before the starter kicks in. This happens randomly. It doesn't seem to make a difference if shes been running hot or not.
I was hoping to find a common issue from other FD owners, but I didn't see anything, so I figured I'd start a thread.

I want to nail down the issue and fix it before it becomes more serious. Can anyone tell me where I should start looking?
Am I correct to think I'm having an ignition problem?
Battery is fine and the connections seem solid.
The car is in cherry condition & mostly stock:

Intake
Exhaust
Stage 3+ Clutch
sleepy eye mod
reverse glow gauge cluster
boost & A/F dash mount

Check the clutch switch. There is a how to in the 3rd gen FAQ stickied in this forum. The FSM (Factory Service Manual also has various troubleshooting procedures for this. You can download it from the FAQ thread.
