93 rx7 coolant alarm!

I just recently woke my Rx7 up from a longer then usual winter nap, I drove it for about a few days added some coolant to it. After adding I drove around a bit and smelled burning fluid but thought it was because if what I spilled! But went to start it up and drive it to a new location and my coolant alarm was blaring(first time ever happening) I was scared and turned the car off right away! Cheaked my coolent and its right full almost to full. Would that be the problem or is this more serious then that! Whats going on first time this ever happened! and im scared lol!

How long have you owned the car?

Sounds like you have a air in the coolant system or a coolant leak of some sort. Your best bet is to do a coolant system pressure test. Also check the 3rd gen FAQ thread stickied in this forum for details on the coolant system and troubleshooting.

Here is a link to the FAQ thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/

Scroll down to the C section and you'll find these threads that I find very helpful:

If you google for Cooling System Pressure Test or Cooling System Pressure Tester you'll get some links to products and videos on YouTube. Or just find a local radiator shop. Its a very simple test where they remove the cap on the water pump, install an adaptor, pump it up with a hand pump and watch for a pressure decrease and leaks. Sears usually has the tool or you can try a local auto parts store to rent one.

Thanks very much that helps me out alot! I think I know what went wrong, I pretty sure Air seperator tank top was opened causing the problem. Whats happening now is my overflow tank is completly full and my rad was almost empty so I added fluid directly into the rad. Now within the next few weeks gonna get a fluid flush and change to correct all problems!

Low Coolant Alarm

My coolant alarm keeps going off. Once my 1990 RX-7 gets warmed up, it begins; first intermittently; then after 15 minutes of driving, it stays on. I searched thru several MAZDA discussion sites and the first thing recommended was to change the thermostat. That did not solve the problem.

I sent the car to the local Mazda expert, Advanced Racing Technologies. They had the car for three days and checked everything, flushed the system, tightened belts and checked the water pump. The tech took the car for a ½ hour drive and said the alarm never sounded. Within 5 minutes of me taking the car, the alarm was sounding. I searched the Mazda discussion sites again and it was suggested to ground the alarm wire to shut it off. That worked. It stopped the alarm, which to me reveals that the wiring from the sensor to the alarm was good. Has to be the SENSOR. I bought a NEW OEM sensor from the local Mazda dealer. It did not solve the problem.

I need help on this one. The car is in wonderful condition but the alarm drives me nuts.
If someone knows what the next step is, please email me @ psaund9860@aol.com
Thanks
