93' r1 drivebelt

How do you loosen the drivebelt to get the alternator out?

In near stock trim, there are two adjustments on the alternator belt. The obvious one is the bolt tensioner on the alternator itself. That's more for fine-tuning tension. The other is under the air pump which I'm assuming you still have. Loosen it and you should be golden.
Download a copy of the Factory Service Manual (FSM) from the 3rd Gen. Stickys and I believe there's an illustration. It also gives some guidance on re-tensioning. You don't want to over do it.
