'93 Idle problem

'93 Idle problem
While on the topic of idle issues... I have a problem with my 93 rex its fairly standard apart from stragiht through exhaust and 2 air filters... When I start it up its grand.. But every1 now and then wen i rev it.. It seems to splutter and back fire or it mite rev then you could lift off and rev again and it would splutter.. Can someone help me please??

Might help to post a video.
When was the last time you did spark plugs and spark plug wires?
Are you running the stock ECU?
Have you checked the TPS voltages? (See FAQ for procedure)
Is it only at part throttle?
Be careful on how much boost you are running with a full open exhaust. The stock ECU and fuel system doesn't flow enough fuel for anything beyond 10 PSI.

Yep i still av the air pump.. New leads and plugs have been fitted.. Its runnin standard boost. I read in a magazine about a dashpot?? Its for deaceleration?? I dont know what it is or where to find it but its to stop it back firing and sometimes need adjustment?? If its worth checking can someone tell me where to look for it??

Dashpot "cushions" the throttle body linkage from slamming the throttle plates closed when you take your foot OFF the accelerator pedal. It does not affect acceleration.
The FSM has pics of the location and instructions for adjusting it. The 3rd gen FAQ thread has a link to a thread on it also:
