91' rx7 battery/electrical issues

Im a third owner of this car, it has 136,000 miles...has twin cyl rotary engine. the car runs fine when its started besides a little sputter while it idles or at one constant rpm and battery has been draining down killin the battery and also after driving the car and getn out door has like a static shock gets my finger tip that has recently just started. since i bought the car the altenator belt had been breakin between every 200 to 600 miles like it would melt in two. other than these problems i love the car but is startin to **** me off. this last belt has lasted for about 1200 miles but still signs of rubber residue under the hood. Also, when i dissconnect the positive terminal the car still runs, so apparently the alternator is charging.Would like to understand more about wiring of my car, why battery is dying and why it shocks me everytime i get out of the car. thanks for any advise.

sounds like a bad alt that has had the belt over tightened and damaged a bearing

Static shock may be due to the type of clothing you are wearing when you are in the car, not likely to do with the car electronics. Alternator could be rubbing inside, therefore creating more friction and putting undue stress on the belt, stange that they keep breaking. Maybe they are to tight?

Battery dying could be the fact the battery is fkd or is has current draw when sitting un-used. I have worked as an auto electrician and it usually one of these two things that cause your battery to die if the alternator is chargine correctly.

Sorry for the essay but if I were you I would take the car to a sparky and get the alternator output checked. Without seeing it I am led to believe that the alternator may not be even turning which would explain the broken belts and battery going flat.

alternator is charging, but maybe not at the right specifications, ill check that. One question i had was about the plug that goes to the alternator ( top/back ) I noticed that its missing this plug. He has the wires for the plug ( 1 white/black, 1 white/blue). "I believe that this plug would factor into charging the alternator, right??" How can i know for sure if i have the right alternator?? Also, I'm not sure about why the car breaks so many belts.... it's done that since he's owned it, but he has improved the amount of miles he can make the belts last. Thanks for all the advice so far, ill keep ya updated on progress...

Might need a better quality alternator.
