91 FC, RPM Stuttering and car dying

Ok first sorry if this isn't the correct place to post this, I'm new haha so I'm still trying to learn. This is a relatively new car for me its a I've only owned it for about 6 months or so and i've only had one problem before this which was a starter going out and now this: I was driving and my check engine light popped on as i was pulling into a gas station then turns off, so i decided id get gas then turn it back on and see if i could diagnose the problem. I turn it back on and there's no check engine so i started driving again and there goes the check engine again and my RPMS stuttered and the light went off again and this happened a few more times as i tried to find a place to park. The light came back on and my car died and was only cranking, i got it back on pulled into a parking spot and turned it off for a minute to try and figure out what it is. I turn it on and it idles but the rpms will stutter when i press on the gas and it seems if i have it on for too long it'll stutter and die. My apologies if this is a bit confusing, any possible solutions? Misfire maybe ? i have no clue im just kind've guessing. My car is an Automatic idk if that might play a part im just giving the info i can.

welcome to the board.

a flashing (as opposed to steady) CEL, could mean misfires. did you tune it up in the 6 months you've owned it, or do you have any reason to believe it's been tuned up recent to you buying it?

do you have a copy of the FSM? if not, then you can get a copy at: Foxed.ca

i would start by checking the coils. does your tachometer work? however, whether or not they check out fine, i would say tune the car up if it hasn't already had one.

the only alternate idea i have right now, and it could also be ignition-related, is maybe a dead cat.
