NM 89 na intake sleeve?

I have a 89 na 6 port. What is the sleeve installed in the top port?

Those are 6 port actuators. They open and close depending on engine load. If working properly they should open at about 3500 rpm to give the engine more airflow.

You'll find links to the Factory Service Manual in the 2nd gen FAQ. It explains most of the systems on the car.

Pulling out those sleeves and leaving the ports wide open results in a gutless car below 4000 RPM.

You can delete them with a block off plate and lose top end power or leave them operating by one way or another and keep the power.
