88 Vert Turbo II swap

I have an N/A 88 Vert. I just picked up a new Turbo II motor and everything. And I want to know if I can use my original Trans? and what other small stuff I need?

RotaryRocket88 01-02-11 11:30 PM

Now would be a good time to read through the FAQ: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...55#post5131155.

To answer the transmission question, sort of....If you don't intend on upgrading the engine much and keep the power level around 200HP, then it should be fine for a while. The NA transmission is far weaker than the TII transmission and while it will handle the power (and surprisingly, a lot more power) it also becomes FAR easier to break.

If you want to use the NA transmission, you'll need to swap the NA flywheel onto the turbo engine.

Krbyman 01-04-11 10:48 AM

Ok Cause I dont really plan on doing a whole lot to the motor. Mainly just wanted it as a daily driver for now. Cause My issue was I could not find a T II rear end.

Aaron Cake 01-04-11 03:17 PM

You can run the NA rear end if you have a custom driveshaft built to connect the TII transmission to the NA rear. Mazdatrix also sells them.

Finally got started with the swap, the engine is out and I am cleaning up under the Hood, also put on a newer top, s5 tails, and I am looking for an exhaust....any ideas? I want to keep the dual style system,

Hard to beat the Racing Beat REV II exhaust for performance and sound.

Thanks! I want some a little Throaty but nothing too ridiculous. I have enough issues with the boys in blue.

RotaryRocket88 07-07-11 08:09 PM

RB exhausts are pretty quiet at idle/low throttle, but they also sound great at WOT.

Thanks Man, Yeah its coming along the entire car now is primer black, and i figured now is the best time as any to tear it apart...hopefully it will be running again in the next week or so...Now if the weather would work for me...

Krbyman 07-09-11 12:06 AM

I do have a question. I really want to run without all that emission crap. I am just curious what I don't necessarily need.

cab91089 07-09-11 10:17 AM

No problem. Yeah summer is a great time to work on your 7, I was stuck favoring one of my 7s over the other but Im focused on my vert now. It looks like you have a cool project going on though, itll be awesome when its done. For emissions removal go to rotaryresurrection.com and look in the tech section and it will have a good write up with pictures on what to remove and how to!

If you check the 2nd gen FAQ, you'll find links to emissions removal information. No matter what you do, keep the BAC valve and cold start system.

Picked up the Wheels off Craigslist. I wanted a set of staggered 17's. But found these for only $200! So 18's it is. The Tires are shot and they are little beat up and one of the fronts has a a pretty bad rash...but I am going to see if I can clean them up a bit.

Whats the difference between the n333 and n332? I previously bought the n333 for the swap, but I picked up another harness and the guy threw in the n332.

RotaryRocket88 07-15-11 05:19 PM

N332: '87 TII
N333: '88 TII or 10AE

They're interchangeable. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-archive-72/ecu-part-numbers-applications-873382/
