88 T2 new build=same problems

Here we go...

So, I bought an 88 t2 that sat for ten years in not running condition. Bought a cheap($300) JDM shortblock and did the swap. Mods include: 3inch downpipe and exhaust with high flow cat, block off plates(didnt delete the butterfly), and twin scroll has been eliminated.

The car ran for a short time on the JDM engine(I wasnt expecting anything for $300) and blew a seal while I was trying to beat the inflamous 2800-3200rpm hesitation. I had already regrounded a the harness and checked a bunch of other things, but now with RTEK 1.5, Als seals and a street port, the problem still exists. Any Ideas?

I am buying new grommits and rubber for the injectors to ensure the are sealing correctly, even though there are no fuel leaks.

Also, I think there is an endplay issue with the eccentric shaft. There seems to a knock or clicking noise with the clutch depressed, and the main pulley seems to sit out too far. I checked endplay and it seemed to be within spec according to the Haynes Manual before the front cover was put on.

I am completely lost, and would like to be able to drive this car someday... :-(

Have you ever had your fuel injectors flow tested and/or professionally cleaned?
