88 N/A Just keeps flooding, won't start... running out of ideas

I bought this car non running, with this flooding issue. I got it cheap. Details on car. 5sp. 116k on the clock, GTU sub model. The exhaust has been hacked off just pasted the manifold flange. (1st sign I had bought an idiot's mess) The ECU doesn't have a black ground wire bolting I n it bottom left like much 87 does, but the 87 was an auto. Not sure that makes a difference. I have traded out the ECU, and AFM with units known to work. Changed out FPR and checked seals on secondary injectors when I also traded out the throttle body, which only had the two top nuts holding it on. (2nd sign that I bought an idiot's mess) Also, replaced the metal hard line for fuel as it had HUGE holes rotted through it. I've tried three different TPS switches. I don't know what the standard resistance rattling is suppose to be for these, but I tested them all. 1. Low end was .49 high was 4.8, 2 L .51, H5.8 3. L.78 H7.9 None made a difference. Oh yeah, fuel punk won't run with out jumpering the test terminal. I honestly can't remember if that was a problem when I got the stupid thing or not it's been too long ago. I guess I found a new start point there. Figure out why the pump won't run without the jumper. Even with the jumper running the pump though, it shouldn't be flooding out like this. Any one have anything like this before?

The AFM in it now, and originally work fine and are securely hooking up. Fuses are good. Any ideas of what part/sensor would cause the pump to not run, then for the engine to just load up when it's jumpered? I'm so lost with this car, it's sad. I'm open to it being simple. Probably going to make me look like a dumb dumb.

You'll need the wiring diagrams to figure out the fuel pump issue. Be aware that the pump only runs during cranking or while the engine is running (there is a switch connected to the flapper in the ECU).

The Factory Service Manuals for all years of RX-7 (and many other rotary cars) can be downloaded for free here: Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals . They contain all common service information information and more, and are an essential tool for any sort of service work that needs to be performed on these cars.

Additionally, the Haynes service manual for the 1986 thru 1991 RX-7 (both turbo and NA) can be found at most local auto parts stores or purchased from any good bookstore (ISBN number 1 56392 007 7). It is only about $25 and is a great quick reference for things like this. Not only does it contain most of the information in the FSM condensed into an easy to read format, but it includes full wiring diagrams as well.

These manuals will answer 99% of service related questions for the car and if you intend to do your own repair work, you will need at least one of them. Preferably both, since the FSM is a free download. The Haynes is a good quick reference covering 99% of questions, while the FSMs show complete and detailed procedures.

Have all the injectors been professionally cleaned and tested?

Im assumming this engine hasnt been swaped before but if so you may want to check the pins on your injectors just in case. Your primary's may be accidently switched.... Sounds stupid but you never know use the manuals provided by Aaron Cake for the pin outs

You may also want to check if you have a leaky injectors. Do this by removing your fuel rails with injectors on. Hold your injectors to your rail *TIGHTLY* with zip ties. Place a rag under just incase. Jump the yellow plug and turn your key on KOEO.

This may also be a sign of a faulty FPR (Fuel pressure regulator) check your FPR with a gauge, Rotory's have a known issue where after running the engine and letting it sit, residual pressure on the high side will cause your injectors to leak
