I'm in the process of repairing a FPD leak fire on my FC. I took off the UIM and found the vacuum lines underneath toast and the injector clips/harness damaged as well.
Looking for suggestions on how to tackle this:
- Should I just buy an engine harness and call it day?
- I would like to modify the car once its up and running...Would investing in a stand alone help with the burnt harness?
- Is there a difference between the OEM S4 & S5 turbo harness?
I will be replacing all the necessary vacuum lines.. probably look at getting new injectors too.
Anything else I should look into since the UIM is off?
Any help/suggestions/insight would be appreciated... TIA!
Secondary fuel rail removed. Notice the FPD cap.. found the screw melted onto it!

Completely your call. I have no idea if they are available new any more, but I see them on eBay all the time. Of course, there's always the Classified forum here when you have enough posts.

Stand alone is a completely different animal, with it's own trials. It's not supposed to be an impulse decision. That said, if that's the direction you were thinking of going before the fire, then yes, you might as well. Should come with it's own harness, but you'll likely need to buy the connectors and sensors (and possibly a few spools of extra wires, too) to install it in the car.

Obviously, you'll want to do the FPD mod when you replace the rails and get your new injectors.
Just be thorough disassemble everything, and if you have any doubts about it, then replace it. I would imagine a fire is one of those situations where replacing parts rather than repairing them, may be best.

Thanks for the welcome & input Diabolical. I was able to find a used harness so just gonna get the car up & running again before getting too crazy.
Going with new injectors for sure, but the fuel rails didn't look to bad and was thinking of reusing it. Should there be any concerns with the rails? Will be replacing all the fuel lines as well.
