86 NA bucking sputtering and stalling

Hi

I'm new to rotaries, and am having an issue with my 86. It bogs out, cuts hard under acceleration, and sounds like maybe one of the rotors is even sparking.

I am assuming tps, but the problem is intermittent and goes away when the ecu is reset. The SAFC I have in the car will show the tps go from .1 to 100% when the issue is occurred.

I assume this is namely tps?
Which years tps work, and where is the best place to get one?

Thanks
Jake

Any time I hear this and the car has an SAFC on it,it is usually the SAFC causing the problem.
I don't use one,don't care to either,so I can't help you there,But there is a Forum section for SAFC.

^ I can definitely agree with that.

Your issue seems to be fuel related. Try removing the SAFC and running the car on stock components. Perhaps you've tuned it too rich if the TPS is shooting up to WOT range while this is occuring.

Hmm... Then maybe you do have a TPS issue. Your best bet would be to test the TPS from ~1V to ~5V (WOT) with a multimeter that has the capability to produce such readings when sweeping through on throttle changes. You want to witness smooth transitions throughout the range between a fully warmed engine at ~1V and wide open throttle at ~5V. Nothing erratic.

Try borrowing a friend's TPS or just finding a known good used one on the forum. The S4 N/A and S4 TII TPS' are exactly the same. Don't let anyone B/S you.
