So my 86 FC smokes and misfires. It's a white smoke, that's constant from start up til when I turn it off, and even more so when I'm on the accelerator. It also misfires. I just recently changed the spark plugs, and the old ones seemed to be in pretty decent condition. I just have no idea what it is unless it's something oil-related. I seafoamed my car even, thinking that it might have just been carbon buildup. But it's definitely not. Also, right now it idles just a little under 1000, when I rev it in neutral, and then let off the gas, the car will idle at about 100-200 rpms and either slowly come back to where it regularly idles, or it'll die. :/ Other than that, it drives well.

White smoke could be coolant, or if it's grayish, it could be oil. If you don't have an external leak onto something hot like the exhaust manifold, internals could be to blame. If you're losing coolant and/or overheating, the coolant seals may be shot. If you're just burning oil very quickly, the oil control rings may be worn.

your car does the same as mine... well when mine start up it also blows out white smoke. u should check your oil cause my car is leaking oil so when its low on oil it will blow out white smoke on cold start up and about the misfire you should check your vacuum hose and check your BAC(control valve) its usually the control valve that makes your car idles like that

I saw a friends 86 have a fuel injection issue and overfueled. But that is normaly Black not grey

Make sure that the trailing coil wires to the plugs are correctly connected to the right Correspomding plugs.
The leading(lower plug) wires can be put on any way at all( to whatever lower plug you wish)
the Trailing coil wires however are Specific and connot be Mixed up.Doing this will cause the engine to Buck.Chuck,spit,snort etc!!!.Especailly if you take it for a small run..it will be VERY noticeable.
T1 is at the Front of engine,and is the first Coil towards the Front of engine( by the master brake booster) the Other Plug(T2) is obviously the other Part of the trailing coil,closest to the Firewall on the engine,
It is a common mistake,but it makes you think that something drastic has suddenly occured to the Engine..Simple mistake and a simple fix.

White smoke is coolant and bluish smoke is oil. It sounds like your coolant seals are done for and its time for a rebuild/new engine.
