86 FC 13b N a overheating

Hi,
ok so i bought myself an 86 fc about a week ago and the car overheats. The guy i bought it from said it just needs the thermostat replaced and it will be fine. So i went out and got the thermostat and the gasket from Mazda and replaced it and the car still overheats.
I am somewhat new to the rotary but i know that overheating is the main cause of the motor dying out. I haven't flushed or put new coolant in yet but it does have coolant in the car and it's not low or too high. has a new fan clutch and the belts are fairly new.
Any help id appreciate it.

If it has bee radically overheated many times, housings may have warped or coolant o-rings may have been damaged. If this is the case, then the engine will fairly consistently overheat and consume coolant.

1. Take a sample of coolant to a radiator shop, have it chemically tested for exhaust gases. If present, the engine is in need of a rebuild. If not, ...
