ok so i have an 84 gsl & as the title says i need more hp..problem is i don't have a lot of cash to spend on it right now. so what i was wondering is if there's anything i could buy that'd give me a decent hp gain that'd be in the $200-300 price range? i've been looking into buying a racing beat header for it, but obviously that's not gonna be a real big gain. so if there's anything i'd appreciate it if someone could help me out.

 

Unfortunately, there will be no real gains until you open up the exhaust system and let it flow better. That means header and exhaust. But it needs to be heavy gauge stainless, or the high heat of the rotary will burn it up.

The most popular system is the Racing Beat, but it runs something like 800.00

There are some cheap mods that will add small amounts of power here and there, but they won't show a gain until the exhaust is taken care of. After that, add a nice carb like a Sterling and you're off and running.
