84 heater issue

i have a 1984 rx-7 (derp) and i have a heater problem(derp)

basically, about 80% of the heat goes to the feet, and 15% goes to the setting you want it to, (as long as its not feet ) and the other 5% goes to all the other vents. my feet sweat so bad, so i have to shut the heater off. i live in alaska, guess what its cold, so i gotta turn it back on. soooo, does anyone have a basic answer, or am i gonna have to bring it to a mech?

What is "derp"?

Your heater system is operated mechanically by cables pulled by the levers. Up under the dash, observe the heater system while you move the levers around and make sure that nothing is bent, disconnected, etc.

You can reach much of it from underneath the dash.
