SD 84 gsl-se clutch master

Is there a gasket or something that is supposed to be firewall side?

I bought a new master and it just wont tighten up.

Dont see anything on the old master, worst case I can flat washer/lock washer in the gap, but I just wanted to know if im missing something.

The master I bought a while back had studs that were way too long & had an unthreaded portion that would have prevented the master from being fully tightened to the firewall. Pull the new master off & check the studs, I ended up re using my old studs. They came out of the old master easily. There is no gasket or anything else between the master & the firewall. Mazda used some sealant material on mine to seal it to the firewall.

Thanks considered using the old studs, but they are stuck pretty solid.

Will give it another try today though.
