Question 83 RX-7 Starting Problems??

Hey everyone. I just bought an 83 rx7 and i can't get the starter to kick in 99.8% of the time. Using the key in all positions except start, everthing in the car works fine. When the key gets turned to the start position, the Brake warning light in the idiot cluster will come on and nothing happens. I know that the starter works, cause twice i got the car to turn over and it turns just fine, but then suddenly the starter kicks out. All the wires are good under the dash and hood, and I flushed the fuel lines, radiator and put new plugs and plug wires in. I took out the ignition switch and tried hotwiring the car and it does the same brake light comes on and nothing happens. Is there a bad relay that i have? Or is the Starter bad? Someone please help me out, i want to get it on the road before next spring if i can.
Thanks,
Jake.
Also if it helps anyone its an 83 base model rx7 with a 5 speed and a 12A.
Again Thanks for all your help guys.

Is there an alarm system on the car? I had the exact intermittent starting problem but it turned out that the relay in the alarm system was dying. It was an ignition kill option that I never even used anyway. One day I couldn't get it to turn over at all even with a jump and that's when I finally went in with a 12V test light and followed circuits till I found out where my power was being interrupted to the starter solenoid.

That's your course of action now...

need to check your fuse link by the ign coil, there is a brown box with 3 wire see if any one of then is broken, also check batt cable if making a good connection.
