83' Not turning over

Hey All!

My first technical post so I'm hoping this will go well for me and my 7.

I drove to the gas station the other day and when I hopped back into the car, she wouldn't start! I can turn the key over all the way and not a peep.

I know it's not the battery, as the headlights and all accessories still work (Not to mention the battery is less than a month old.)

Personally I think I have starter motor wiring issue or loose connector (and will test that theory this weekend when I start jumping connections) but wanted to see if there is anything obscure that I should look into.

Thanks in advance for any advice/tips!

Welcome to the board.

In no particular order, I would recommend:

- Check your fusible links.

- Check your battery terminals and make sure they are tight.

- Test your starter

EDIT

Forgot to say make sure that the engine actually turns as well.

If it was just running and you only stopped for gas it sounds like it is most likely a starter issue, you can try the age old trick of whacking the starter with a hammer if all the wiring to it checks out, other than that, it looks like at a minimum new wiring for the starter is in the near future. Hope you get her up and running soon!!

It's working now! Thanks for the tips! Pulled my stater and checked all my wiring.

Behold my problem.

Guess whoever replaced the starter motor last decided that new connectors were over-rated and hack-jobbing the old, dying, decrepit cable and the new shiny cable was all the rage.

Anyone know where I can get some more of these connectors? Or am I gonna have to get creative? (I need the female side, but I'll take anything I can get my hands on.)
