82gsl 13b t2 swap
i know this is a really stupid question but let me preface it with a story. i bought a 82 gsl in june of this year with a new 12a streetport with a big bore carb. i worked to get all of the kinks out of the car. i checked the compression every week. one week the front rotor had 180psi and the rear was 90. the next Sunday ( last Sunday) i was driving and it turns off. i popstart it and it goes for about 300 more yards and then stops. i pushed it to a parking lot and got it towed. i checked the compression and the front rotor was 30psi and the rear was still 90psi. so my question is what happened? im planning on pulling it and doing a s5 13b-t swap. im getting the engine from http://www.jsamotors.com/catalog_pro...px?prod_id=168
please let me know if it s possiable to do the swap for a reasonable amount of money thanks

well, based on what you've shared so far, i'm not sure i'd condemn the 12A just yet, but that's not what you asked, i guess.
to answer your question, based on the link you provided, getting all the parts to you is pretty much half your budget already. in addition:
1. i know you'll need a driveshaft.
2. mounting will be easiest with an SE front cover, but i honestly don't know if there are any issues moving the S5 OMP over to the SE cover, so you'll need to check on that.
3. obviously, you'll need exhaust
4. get your radiator and oil cooler cleaned and checked. if they're shot, then replace them.
5. you may want to improve braking because i'm sure you'll be using the newfound power increase.
6. if someone else is doing the install, then they'll need to be paid
7. other little odds and ends that are bound to pop up (for example, i don't think ignition components are sold with these complete engines, so you'd need coil packs and such.)
so if you can price all of that and get it done for $1500 or less, then you'll make budget. however, used engines are a gamble - regardless of what is advertised. so keep that in mind.

Thanks, lets say that i didn't want to condem the 12a seeing that it has about 800 miles on it. Yes eight hundred not eight thousand. I'm pretty shure that its the apex seals or the side seals. What would have to be done?
