82 running way too rich
I've got a 82 RX7 GSL that's been great in the 40,000 miles I've owned it. But now all of a sudden the engine is running way too rich, it's robbing my power, my idle speed is way too high and is surging at idle between 1500 and 1700 rpm where it usually idles around 500 rpm. I need help quickly please I'm practically screwed without my car and no mechanics around here have any idea what to do with a rotary engine. Thanks.

Does it do this all the time or just when it's cold. Sounds sort of like a stuck choke, but we need a little more info. Any abnormal whistling noises or anything like that? And is it stock, or are there mods?

Does it all the time unfortunately, hot or cold. First thing I checked was the choke to see if it was stuck but the choke butterfly is wide open. Another thing for consideration is that my air filter is very dirty. I imagine that this may aggravate the problem but I don't think this could be the root cause. No whistling noise as far as I can tell. Any other information that could help you?
EDIT: Also, it is almost completely stock. The few changes include a new sound system, and the AC belt removed due to a faulty air conditioner.

Try it without the air filter and see if it makes a difference. Check around for vacuum leaks too.
How is the fuel level in the float bowls? Should be at the halfway mark.
