81 good parts car for 84?
Heya fellas,
Just recently bought an 84 gsl. Great car, runs nice. A few issues I'd like to fix, such as rear wiper motor, fuel level sending unit being the major ones.
There is an 81 gsl for sale near me for $500. Same colour as mine. Same rims. Dash and console are obviously different. It has leather seats, mine have cloth.
I was thinking about scooping it up for a parts car. The sending unit should be the same, no? If the rear wiper motor works and the back hatch lifts work (oh yeah mine are shot) then I figure I break even and I'm getting a free engine, tranny and a spare set of rims.
Both cars have the 12a engine and are manual. Would the 81 be a good interchange car for parts for my 84? Or should I look for something closer?
Thanks
laz.

The 84 has the better body. Never driven in winter, zero rust. Pretty amazing really. A lot of the trim has sun faded though. Not sure that can be avoided over 26 years.
I'm going to have to see if I can find a place to put it and go and talk to the guy.
From 0 to 2 RX in 2 weeks. Oh boy!
