Talking 400rwhp wanted parts list required

Hi Guys,

I have searched the forums endlessly and cant find the answer I am looking for as people have different setups for different applications.
Guy in Japan who owned before me had a bunch of Greddy and Apexi gear in it but some parts I am unsure of as I havent seen labels etc.

My question is as follows:

What do I need to get 400rwhp or even 500rwhp from my 13b-rew?

Current setup;
- 1994 R2 FD3S 13B-REW making 270rwhp
- stock twins (from what I am aware)
- stock porting (from what i am aware)
- low mileage engine with over 105psi per face per rotor
- Apexi PFC
- GReddy Elbow
- Greddy piping
- FMIC (could be Greddy but unsure)
- Apexi gauges (boost, oil temp, oil pressure, water temp)
- 2.5" exhaust and midpipe (no cat converter)
- Alloy Radiator (sit at 80C generally)
- twin aftermarket oil coolers
- coilovers
- half cage
- strut tower brace

Parts I need help with;
- single turbo, thinking a BW s366 or s471 (need help with which size I should get)
- wastegate (what size wgs do i need for the 2 above turbos)
- apex seals (which seals should I get to run a safe 20-25psi boost)
- porting (bridgeport or large street port)
- gearbox (will the factory gearbox handle the power, if not what is a suitable replacement)
- Diff (do i need to get an upgraded diff)
- Bushes (should i get a new set of OEM or get superpro)
- Brakes (currently standard 294mm discs, should i upgrade or are they fine)
- UIM and LIM (do these need upgrading)
- fuel pump (what size)
- Injectors (what size primary and secondary)
- exhaust (do i go bigger than 2.5")
- ECU (do i need to remove the PFC and get something else better suited)

Can anyone please copy paste the parts i need help with and list your recommendations?
Also, if there is anything I have missed please list at the bottom.

When I start the build I will do a thread to show progress etc. Hoping to get a feel for what I am in for, buy parts of time, then do everything in one hit.
Of course a tune will also be necessary and I know to keep the bank account juicy when I finally start as there are always extras to buy.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help all

P.S. I am in Auckland, NZ if there is anyone out there who wants to go cruising at some point

I'll allow this post to remain as long as nobody tries to buy or sell parts.(We have 20 Classified sections for that...and this is TECH.)
My advice is to cruise through some Build threads and look at setups that you feel are similar to what you are after.
My BEST FC was made that way.It was stock S5 TII internals with 357 at the wheels!

I'll let others list specifics but don't think you'll need 20 to 25 psi on any single to hit your power goal. Be easier though with porting. Transmission and diff are fine for 400 whp unless you're intending hard launchs. Bushes and brakes may depend on the cars use. If you'll track it, then yes to both upgrades. If not then they're both "nice to haves" but not absolutely needed as long as they're in good shape. You will be on the edge of what the stock clutch will stand. An upgrade there will be needed IMO.
I would get a 3" downpipe and catback. Even with your smaller exhaust I'd also keep a cat on the car until going single to avoid boost creep. The wastegate on the twins is pretty small and can be overwhelmed with too little backpressure and that could cost an engine.

my is 390whp according to the dyno.

street port
garrett gt35r @15psi
850/1300 injectors
denso supra tt fuel pump
stock ignition
power fc
3in exhaust all the way back with magnaflow cat

then all the standard supporting mods: intercooler, exhaust, ect....

to find an extra 10hp to break 400 would be as easy as turning up the boost. there are plenty of methods to get into the 4-500 windows and the set up on my car is one of them. youll be fine with a power fc but if you want all the cutting edge tech and stuff then go adaptronic. you will be happy with either.

going off your list

Parts I need help with;
- single turbo: garrett gt35r 1.00A/R t4
- wastegate: idk what size
- apex seals: stock is fine
- porting: street port will suffice. go bigger if you would like to be closer to 500
- gearbox: not really sure. im still using the stock
- Diff: a nice quality 2 way would be nice. im still using stock
- Bushes: new oem pillow ***** and superpro everywhere else will be fine
- Brakes: stock is fine. just upgrade to performance rotors and pads
- UIM and LIM: no need to upgrade either. you can port the lim and the irons
- fuel pump: 255lph or higher. the denso supra tt pump is popular
- Injectors: the options here are limitless and vary greatly. i would recommend stock primary and top feed 1600 or more secondary
- exhaust: 80mm/3in would be a good starting point
- ECU: pfc will be fine but you can use something more advance if you wish like an adaptronic

these are just my recommendations. many other will have different suggestions. theres no one right way to get to what your aiming for. do your research on parts and browse through the build thread section to see what results others are getting with their set ups.

Thanks for allowing, I don't have permission to post in main forum yet...

Thanks to both CX-Rex and SGTBlue for your help also. Now I have a baseline on what to work with. This is my first rotary and I don't know the power output achievable with different mods so your input has helped immensely.

The Power FC can remain, it will handle everything just fine. Although I run Microtech, Power FC will do just as good. I recommend at least a large street port, thats what I have and I am very happy with it. Currently I am running a Borg Warner s362 @18 psi while making 513 hp with 1600 cc injectors and dual Bosch fuel pumps. I have plenty of fuel, you probably don't need dual fuel pumps for just 400 hp nor the 1600cc inhectors, but i recommend them for 500. Next thing that I will be getting is an HKS twinpower, I have really bad spark plug blowout when I'm in high boost. Other than that I think you will be fine. The tranny and diff will be fine, until you start driving it harder then the diff will eventually give, but the transmission is very strong. I have Black super Apex Seals, engine was rebuilt 15k ago about 4 years ago and it has plenty of life left

BorgWarner EFR IWG 13B Rotary Turbo System ( 8374 version)

You will want a 460lph pump for those power levels, oem intake and tranny are fine. Stick with stock primaries and ID2000 secondaries.
