rx7 is a stock turbo engine where the s2000 does not. way cheaper too make more power out of in the long run, parts for the s2000 are not very cheap either. if your looking for a fun car too keep stock the s2000 is honestly one of the best, but get very pricey and touchy when you mod them with lesser quality parts..alot of the time it actually hurts the car more then helps it, especially in the suspension field.

FD for sure, it is definitely a purer sports car than the Z.

The OP has had only ONE post and last on the board on 4-17-12. Seems like he made his choice.

Well, I have an 85 FB but have never been in much less driven an FD TT. I can comment on the 300zxTT though, which I have driven extensively and even put on the track.

It is a GREAT car. It is a BITCH to work on. There isn't a single space under the hood that I can stick my hand in further than 6 inches. If anything goes wrong with the engine you will find yourself tearing down numerous things just to even get a look at it.

That being said, the 300zxTT has the potential to be a 500rwhp car without upgrading any internals. Just an ecu swap, bigger injectors, new plugs, and upgraded turbos. It would probably be more fuel efficient as well. I believe the 300zxTT is a heavier car than the FD though.

Ironically my computer took a **** on me about 3 days after the thread was made. And this is a pain to do on my phone. But anyways, I have narrowed my search to a R32 I've located, assuming it will be sold by the time I sell my Acura. So I'm hoping I find an FD at a decent price that preferably has a single Turbo, something small-med (No T88 I would kill myself), and rebuilt with new apex seals, or an already built up Z. I have worked on the Z as well and yes, they are a bitch! My main concern about the FD is my lack in knowledge on rotary engines. But like I said 320hp FD is fine by me, and a 400hp Z is also kosher. I do like S2000's but I'm not a big Honda fan (Irony is I drive an Acura TL).

I used to have a 300zx TT. I like the fd for looks but for power has to be given to the 300. Both have nice interiors also. Both have pros and cons.

I am doing research on my next car, something to tinker with, have some fun. I am deciding between a 300zx TT and 93+ RX7 TT. I love the looks of both, the rarity of an RX7, but I honestly do not know a lot about it. I have heard they are very unreliable and very reliable. I am mechanically inclined, taken automotive classes, am able to do work myself if able. I know they are finicky, but thats about it other than statistics.
My question is this, is it worth trying to make power and reliability meet in an RX7 or just go with the 300? Since I already know what I would have to do with a Z to accomplish this feat. I am not looking for a 600hp monster (320hp is more than enough for me in this car)
I just want some honest opinions and no bullsh*t, I know I'm new at these cars, but I'm not an idiot, I have common sense (I've seen some harsh ragging on newbies on forums). I will have plenty of time to figure out my plan once I can find one worth buying. What have you guys done with yours? Major problems/ setbacks you've had, Reliability. Anything would be helpful.
Just to let you know that the rx7 would be easier to work on but the 300 can hit 600hp with stock internals. You want power go with the 300, but its not an easy engine to fit your hand. Lol

I own both! 300zx is heavy but just adding a Jim wolf ecu gets you like 60 to 70hp I use my z for drag racing its kinda unstable taking turns fast, I love the t tops and tq is always up by hp , rx7 handles better and you have room under the hood to work, 300 you can't fit your hand down there lol gota take apart intake plenum to do any thing

FD. I've driven a 300zx TT and in my dreams I've driven a FD TT, and the FD was way better.

Also the 4.30 rear end in as well!
I'm curious to know, what mod path would you guys take? Looking to hit about 300whp, as reliable as possible, shoot me some ideas if you can. You guys know.much more than I do about these cars... by far lol.
