2R 2C ECU Confusion

I'm in the middle of adding grounds to my 87 NA FC and having a bit of confusion.
Based on the diagram, the middle connector should have 2R 2C as grounds (black wires), but upon inspection, I saw 2C is brown and 2D is the black one.
normally I would just trust the diagram and ignore the colors, but here's where I got confused...
higher up, where the ground wires meet up into 1 wire, all of them are black. Looks like 2R and 2D. I vaguely remember reading that some 87 models had a brown Ground? But wouldn't this mean that i should see brown and black up top joining up?
I'll be grounding tomorrow night so any help would be appreciated. Otherwise, I'll just ground from the wires that meet up.
