CA 2nd gen rx7 AC Issues: keeps blowing hot air

I have an 87 rx7.. whenever I want to use the AC, it just blows hot air.. I have been told it may be the duct flappers (I don't know the technical term..).

I am new and have just registered to the forum. I will download the FSM and see if that will help me troubleshoot the problem.

First thing is to establish whether your car actually has a AC compressor on the engine. It is located on the Front of the engine, driver's side under the power steering unit.
Even though the Controls say AC it is just a "mass produced" part so it may look like you have AC in the car but in reality under the hood the guts are not there to give you AC.
Now,IF you do have the components and it blows hot air it may be just as simple as you getting the system recharged.
Since it is a old type of Refrigerant you may have a hard time trying to get a shop to refill it.
If you get the system updated to take the new stuff then you are good to go,..but it is not exactly cheap.

Thanks mister, wasn't expecting a response. That was very helpful and will serve as a good starting point. I will update this as I progress.

Also, go into the 2nd gen section, theres a thread on how to pretty much totally revamp your a/c system, and fill it with 152a

could be as simple as a blend door actuator that is locked, i know mine is finally about dead and gets stuck either full open or full closed.

rather wish we just had mechanical controls instead of the electronics with stepper motors.
