its been 14 years since i owned a rx7.. theres a lot of things i dont remember.. i've been playing with my acura integra & honda civic's lately.. one thing i know about my honda/acura's is that the ecu primes the fuel pump and pressurizes the fuel lines.. when i turn on the ignition. i can hear the fuel pump turn on as i turn on the key to start.

i'm not hearing anything like that on my 88 FC. and it doesnt want to start.. usually if i come back later, it'll start up.. weird..
i'm just wondering if you guys can hear your fuel pump prime when you turn the ignition key to start the car?

 

It only runs on start..then once the AFM is open then it continues to run.

 

ok so it only runs when you have the key turned to start and that it doesnt "prime" itself for a couple seconds when you first turn the key to "on"?.. (going off the top of my head.. there's off, accessory, on, and start)

the guy i got this car from claims he replaced the fuel pump relay.. which he may have really done.. but if the fuel pump was going bad... the relay wouldnt help much LOL.
