2ND Gen FC Radiator Issues
Hey guys been struggling with this for a few days and couldnt find any useful info online so I want to ask you guys.
Recently my radiator was losing coolant after long drives (would start getting the buzzer after an hour of driving and would check and it would be empty) this happened twice and I got scared and stopped driving the car. I never overheated thankfully.
Whenever I would top off the radiator, the coolant would stay there until I drove it again. For example, I drove for an hour, got the buzzer and was close by my home so i parked, waited for it to cool and filled the rad (it was empty) Didn't drive for 2 days, went to check again on the 3rd day and it was still full. So I took it for another hour drive and had the same issue. So I parked the car. The next day I filled up with water and started the car. I tried to find the leak and discovered that it was leaking out the back. So I assumed I cracked the radiator and promptly ordered a new one.
Now with the new one installed I am now constantly loosing coolant out the back of the brand new radiator even when the car is off. I haven't dared turn it on because I don't want to overheat at all.
Did I just get a faulty radiator? Or do you guys think there is something else at play here. I will perform a pressure check soon, but I work 90% of the daytime so I have to figure out a good time to do it.

Well I redid all my hosing and that seemed to fix the issue of losing coolant, so its not a bad radiator.
However now I keep loosing about 2-3 cups of coolant after only a 30 minute drive. Enough to get the buzzer to go off.
I let it cool down and topped it off. Started the car again with the cap off and let it warm up. I applied some gas from the engine throttle and I could see the fluid level go down and barely go back up. So I can see it going down slowly.
I don't think its a blown coolant seal as the car starts easily, doesn't smoke at all, and the radiator doesn't bubble or overflow like crazy.
I'm thinking I need to burp my radiator more so going to attempt that and see how it goes.

This is a timely thread. I'm having the same problem with my 88 turbo. A few months ago, I got the buzzer and checked my coolant level. I only had to add about 8 ounces of water to top off. I've had to do this a few more times, so I figured I had a leak someplace. I checked under the car (not running) and found no drips or fluid on the floor. The last time I started the car I saw nothing at first, but after about 5 minutes I noticed water leaking. I could not determine exactly where it was leaking from but it puddled at the back of the engine below the firewall. I'm considering my options. I have a mechanic that I trust about five miles away. Do I dare try to drive there to have him check it out?

Troubleshooting RX-7 Cooling Problems
Here is some good info on it.
Thankfully the hoses are fairly cheap on mazdatrix, and if that is your problem you can resolve it fairly simply.
I think I am having the same issue now as well.
