Low/jumping idle when braking and stopped?
I have recently bought a 2005 Subaru Outback. I have noticed it to have low idle to the first line above the zero and slightly jumps up and down when braking. I took it in for a service and they thought it could be the throttle so they did a clean on that and fuel injectors as well with a relearn. It runs better as I did have a rough time cranking it while the engine was warm and it solved that but I’m still left when the hesitation of the idle going up and down slightly when braking and the low idle
at a complete stop. It seems to idle normally while in park and reverse but drop down to the first line above the zero when in drive. The idle starts to sit normally when first stopped but slowly goes down.So far the throttle and fuel lines/ injectors have been cleaned and the battery and spark plugs have recently been replaced, but still no luck. If anyone has any suggestions it would be a great help. Thanks!

@Alli38462 You do realize this is a Mazda Rx7 forum, correct? This forum does not specialize in knowledge of Subarus and your best bet would be to join a Subaru specific forum.

well, i'm not sure why you asked this question here, but i will welcome you to the board anyway. i'm not trying to be facetious, but you would probably get the most out of a membership here if you had an Rx-7 or other rotary-engined vehicle.
sounds like you may have a vacuum leak, and with what you described with the brakes, my first guess would be the hose that comes off the brake booster to the intake manifold might be disconnected or broken. even if that hose fine, then i would still encourage you to look for a vacuum leak.
try to find a shop manual for your car and give it a go.

This is not a Subaru forum man. Everyone here is interested in fixing up their Mazda RX7. I have had 2 modern Subies ( a '15 WRX and a '17 FXT) and when I had questions I asked on the WRX and Forester forums. Very few people here have Subie-specific knowledge. You are on the wrong forum.

Okay thanks. I’ve been stumped so that’s why I decided to ask. All of the people I seemed to ask don’t really have an explanation necessarily. I know this community was meant for rx7 cars but thought I would give it a shot. Thanks for the help anyways. I’ve got my question answered.
