2-stroker oil...
Ok, so I'm going to start using 2-stroker oil in my girl. She's at 89,000 miles, and she's an 87 t2. What brand and ratio should I use?

We run 6oz to 5 gallons of gas.
We are running both cars on race gas all the time. Mostly VP 110 purple stuff and sometimes C12 green stuff. We mix it with 6oz of premix 2 stroke oil to 5gallons of gas. Which is not much. Our motors have all those stock oil lines removed so it mandatory for us. I am not sure if your still running those or disconnecting them and just mixing the gas like us. I like to run full synthetic Maxima stuff mostly because I have run 2 stroke dirt bike motors through High compression and high RPM torture and have had good luck with it keep the crank and rod bearings lubed and lasting longer. I should also mention that in most 2 stroke dirt bikes we ran 16 oz of oil to 5 gallons of gas. A 32 to 1 ratio. You could easily get away with 50 to 1 ratio but we really pushed our bikes hard and ran maximum compression. My Dad is old school and loves to use Maxima Castor oil in his. Mostly because I think he likes the smell. We both are tired of paying over 8 dollars a gallon in so cal and are soon going to switch to 91 octane pump gas and going to install water methanol injection. We both have stand alone fuel controllers and are willing to make necessary changes to the fuel maps.
The more oil you run actually will make your car run leaner believe it or not. The car will smoke a little more at idle and you will be changing spark plugs more often due to fouling.

Eh, better late than never. She hasn't given me any engine problems, just wiring and such... but, an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.

1000 years, lost in time.
Definately better late than never. You'll get better life using the omp and pre-mix. you can use a ratio of 1:100 or 1:150. As far as the brand goes I agree with the above. Any two stroke oil will be fine, so don't waste your money on synthetic.
As a reference, I use a 1:100 ratio with an omp on my 13BT, and a 1:150 on my 12APP.
Remember, the best protection is frequent oil changes.
Best of luck!

We run about 100:1 with just the cheapest stuff you can get but with a more performanced based motor you would want to start looking more into the type you are running. We mainly use Castrol R30
