1st gen steering rack in my FC?

I have an FC and I got rid of the power steering. I just want to know if the steering rack from an FB would fit into my FC. I figured it would be better to have a specialized steering rack that was made to work without power steering. I also prefer the feeling of old school steering over power steering. If that won't fit, what steering rack would?

You have in fact asked... a trick question. The FB does not use a rack and pinion, but some sort of circulating ball setup (don't ask me) so it is impossible for it to fit. You essentially have 2 options: You correctly de-power the steering rack by draining the fluid out, taking the whole assembly apart, remove the power assist valving by hand, grease the rack and reassemble it. Or you can find an 86-88 donor car which had manual steering and swap the rack and pinion in (make sure to get the brackets as well they are not interchangeable). Good luck.

Wow, I didn't even know 86 - 88 had manual steering. I guess I'll check into that. Thanks.
