1st Gen Flooding at WOT...

I'm buying an 84 RX-7 in a few weeks, 12a, stock Niki carb but it has been stripped down some I believe.

The car owner tells me the car floods out it seems after a few minutes of driving, it's a track car, so it will run fine for a moment then start flooding out it seems. They have replaced the fuel pump, filter, took the tank out, etc. He has also messed with the carb some, so I'm not sure if that made it worst.

What are some things I should check first when the car arrives? It ran in the driveway fine, revved freely it seemed, no smoke I saw, no noticeable issues. Supposedly it has blown some black smoke in the past under deceleration though.

I know this is a vague thread as I don't have much info, just looking for a few pointers to get me started, I figure I'll start with the carb. I wasn't sure if apex seals going bad could cause these symptoms though, I read a few threads and some symptoms had me worried.

I would look at the pump 1st, make sure the pressure is right for the carb... then take a look at the accelorator pump & jets... not sure about the 1st gen but a possible bad for could cause flooding too...
