I have a 1990 gtu manual transmission where my 1st gear is grinding and I have found a transmission from a1991 for 300 bucks that I want to put it. Do I have to do any special mods? I'm thinking it should fit just fine. Seller is keeping his short shifter but I'm thinking mine should fit just fine. Any input will help. Thanks

 

you're good to go.there is no difference.
UNLESS the car is a N/A and the trans is a Turbo Trans,then you will need some parts as the drivetrain components differ.

 

cool, i finally got the transmission today....had to go and take it out myself cz the seller has been too busy these last two weeks. it has a K2 stamp on side of it. hopefully its a good trani. came out of 1991 convertible. (Manual) sold it to me for 270 since i took it off myself.
then I found out i could have gotten a trani for $250 from a shop in Van nuys and they would have delivered to me for free next week. oh well at least i got experience in taking it off once...now to take it off my car......

 

the last Tranny I picked up came with a skirt and wig.

My reverse lights don't work. They did before with the old transmission.

 

Did you hook up the switch on the trans to the wiring harness under the car?
