Try shifting from Park into Neutral... There's a switch in the transmission linkage that will not allow the car to start if it is in gear.

However, if the interior accessories do not come on when you turn the key, I believe that there are other electrical problems.

Do you know how to use a multimeter?
yea pele i can use one of those, my dad and i are electricians. so what should i do for cranking? ill buy a new battery in a 2 weeks because i havent been working but when i get paid i will. the main fuse box looked good so ill check the one below the steering wheel. could it be the anti theft system not allowing the car to start?

Hey you should post a video of you trying to start it. That will be the closest to havin us all actually looking at it in person. Try to start it in park or neutral, and make sure to show us all of the things that turn on, i.e. (dash lights, headlights, ac, wipers, radio, anything and everything). then post (good) pictures of the fuse block in the engine bay and the one under the dash near your brake pedal.

P.S. Always stay with the most common reasons for your problems. Don't go off in a tangent looking into another possibility because it could waste alot of your time. I have learned this the hard way many times. So for now look into your fuses and wiring.

<scratches head> Is not the longer cable with stripe supposed to be the negative? Actually, I just checked on my S4 and the longer cable with the stripe is negative. You have it hooked up to the positive terminal of the battery.

It is also possibly you damaged the rectifier that is built-in to the alternator as well. I would pull it off and get it tested at your local parts store (Autozone, Advance Auto, etc). It is free to do this and it might save you some headache later.

What I said was basically a quote from the Factory Service Manual. It warns against hooking up the cables backwards so as to avoid damaging the rectifier.
