1988 Rx-7 idle/stalling issue

Hi I have a 1988 Mazda Rx-7 and having stalling issues. It stalls when idling, if I am driving it doesn't stall but once I press in the clutch or I come to a stop it will stall. I have a video of what it does when idling

It does idle way low. Is the TPS adjusted correctly? Has anything under the hood changed? have you messed with anything? When did the problem start happening?

I have messed around with Tps adjustment and doesn't seem to make any difference, it started after I got a new starter I installed it then the problem happened so I put my old one back in and problem is still there. On cold start it will high idle then drop to 1000 RPM until I press in the gas then the idle will drop, then eventually stall.

Oh boy. You went and changed something after you changed something.

If changing the starter caused an issue, you should have stopped and found out why. I'm betting that your ground circuit has a higher resistance now that you have disturbed it and is causing the PCM to not react correctly. Clean and fix all of the grounds. ALL OF THEM.

The starter did not cause your problem. Moving a ground wire did.

Adjusting your TPS "just because" is not a good idea. Fix your grounds. Verify that all of your power connections are clean and solid. Once that's all done, readjust your TPS and see what happens,

Also when I was changing the starter I forgot to disconnect the battery and it sparked once, not sure if that would have caused anything.

That can blow fuses, backfeed electronics, and sometimes...do nothing. It's tough to tell.

Fix your grounds first. Verify your connections are good, then get back to us.

Use the variable resistor look it up in one of the fsm that is where it will be. You just turn it and it either leans it out or makes it richer. Mine had the same issues

Hey thanks that was the problem also the plug right of the battery was unplugged. I plugged it back in then adjusted the variable resistor and now it runs perfect
