1986 RX7 Brake lights do NOT work... Please help!!!
Hello,
My 1987 RX-7 Rear Brake Lights Not Working, but everything else is.
Anyone had a issue like this and might have figured out how to fix it?
I checked the fuse, they are fine, replaced the brake switch which turned out to be fine (hooked up new one and pressed the button a few times, nothing happened, still no mights turn on)... I did NOT check to see if any power was going or coming to the break switch wires as of yet because I do NOT have electrical testing stuff here... just tools.
Nothing had changed or added ever so no wires have been cut or what ever.
I did take it to a mechanic to have them replace the clutch switch months ago but as I said yesterday a guy pulled up to my car and said that the break lights are not working which I could see did not.
UNLESS they stopped working from when the mechanic replaced the clutch switch ( when I pushed the clutch in it did nothing) and I am JUST finding out months later that the break lights do not work because of the work done???
Is this possible???
Anyways let me know, if you might be able to give me a idea of what might be wrong or a easy fix before I take it to the mechanic...
Thank you.

The Stop Light Switch on the brake pedal has two wires running to it. The Green/White wire has constant voltage (no key) as supplied by the 20 amp Stop fuse. The White/Green wire should have voltage only when the brake pedal is depressed. Check both of these things. If both work as they should then look at the bottom of the CPU for a four wire plug. One of these wires is the White/Green wire that comes from the Stop Light Switch so it has power w/the brake pedal depressed. If it does then look at the Green wire in the same plug and it should also have voltage w/the brake pedal depressed. If it does and the brake lights don't work then suspect the brake light bulbs as they each have two filaments and the one for the brakes might have burned out or the Front harness and Rear harness connector became unplugged, thus preventing the voltage on the Green wire from reaching the brake lights at the rear of the car.

Cool Thanks. I know that the W/G wire is from the brake light switch, the black wires are ground, and the Green wires go to the brake lights. My question now is, what is the little Yellow/Red wire for?
Because I have found that when pressing the brake pedal, I have power at the W/G wire, but not the green wires (connector plugged in) Unplug it and apply power to the green wires, my brake lights work.
So I want to by pass the CPU for now until I can get another one. Is that ok? Or is that Yellow/Red wire something important?
