ID 1986 Mazda RX-7 Smokes rx addict

After setting for some time after use when I start my RX-7 it blows out white bluish smoke for quite some time until the engine is warmed up. Then it runs normally for the rest of the time bellowing out a small amount of smoke when going down the road. As far as I understand this is normal as these cars due use oil. The oil metering pump pumps oil into the rotor housing and when you start the engine some oil is mixed with the fuel because the throttle is attached to it. The car runs fine and seems to have acceleration, plenty of power and short of a small tune up runs quite well. Smoke is my problem and sometimes smokes forever after start up. Is there an eaiser fix for this problem other than replacing the Apex seals and springs, side seals and springs and the center seals along with the springs that would seal the rotor to the rotor housing as it turns. As the car seems to run great coolant may be leaking into the the rotor housing. Not all the time but maybe on start up or shut down the engine. I suspect that the seals are worn but not shot as a compression test would show that I have good, not the best compression 90 PSI. I am not comfortable with the idea of a new engine and am trying to decide how to fix what I got with Minimal cost. So do I do a whole rebuild or temporarily use Lucus Oil. Car is in excellent condition with original interior right down to screw cap covers, orginal spare new struts, shocks tires and all else I pumped into it to make it factory original. Plan on keeping car.

Sounds like oil control rings.
I am sure others will chime in to give you some analysis.

Sounds like oil control rings! Not sure what you mean. Don't mean to sound dumb but trying to learn a few things about these class of cars. The 1986 Mazda RX7 did make the cover of Motor Trend in 1986. Amazing line of RX-7's from the 1st Generation through the 3rd Generation. But most amazing is how much torque they can produce for a 1 x 1 x1 foot of engine. High torque and up to 10,000 RPMs with little or no viberation. If I have to due a total rebuild so be it.. But maybe fuel mixture is too rich or the oil metering pump needs some adjustment. Might be temporary fix. Don't know! I know when you start the thing you don't touch the gas pedal. Thanks for bearing with me and reading my thread.

Thanks on the tread bout 86 Mazda RX7 Smokes. Oil Control Rings could definetely be the problem. In any regards an overhaul we be in order. Since I am not able to tear the thing down I would have to have someone do the work for me. Just trying to find someone who is reputable and will access what needs to be done. Hopefully the rotor housing and rotors are Ok. But will have to be torn down to see for sure. Thanks.
